The most common signs of failure in a Rosemount 3051 transmitter include:
To troubleshoot, check for adequate voltage (usually 9–36 VDC) and perform a loop test.
A loop test checks the output wiring and receiving device by forcing the Rosemount transmitter to a specific mA output. In the HART communicator, go to Service Tools > Simulation > Loop Test. Then, select the desired mA level (e.g., 4mA, 12mA, 20mA) to verify the control system reads correctly.
A “Fix” or “Error” on the display is often caused by a sensor failure or configuration error. First, attempt to read the error code using a HART communicator. If the error persists, try a “Factory Reset” (if available in the diagnostic menu) or contact Rosemount support if the module has failed.
Use a Field Communicator, AMS Device Manager, or the local display buttons to configure your Rosemount device. Navigate to Configure > Guided Setup > Basic Setup to adjust tag, units, range values (LRV/URV), and damping.
